RRB ALP Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2026
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) recruitment is a multi-stage process. Candidates must qualify through Computer Based Test 1 (CBT-1), Computer Based Test 2 (CBT-2), and a Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) before the final selection.
Marking Scheme: For both CBT-1 and CBT-2, there is a negative marking of 1/3 mark for every incorrect answer. There is no negative marking in the CBAT stage.
RRB ALP CBT-1 Syllabus (Screening Stage)
CBT-1 is a qualifying exam consisting of 75 questions to be completed in 60 minutes. The marks from this stage are not added to the final merit list.

RRB ALP CBT-2 Syllabus (Merit Stage)
CBT-2 consists of two parts conducted in a single sitting for 2 hours and 30 minutes. Part A is the merit-scoring section, while Part B is qualifying.
CBT-2 Part A (100 Questions | 90 Minutes)
This section follows the same syllabus as CBT-1 for Mathematics and General Intelligence & Reasoning, but with a higher difficulty level. It also includes Basic Science and Engineering:

Marking Scheme

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
Only candidates who qualify in CBT-2 Part A (merit) and Part B (qualifying) are called for CBAT. Note: There is no negative marking in CBAT.
- Candidates must score a minimum "T-Score" of 42 in each test battery to qualify.
- Final merit is calculated by giving 70% weightage to CBT-2 Part A marks and 30% weightage to CBAT marks.
Final Selection Process
The final merit list is prepared district-wise and category-wise based on the combined score of CBT-2 Part A and CBAT. Candidates in the merit list must then pass the medical exam, where Distance Vision (6/6, 6/6 without glasses) and Near Vision (Sn. 0.6, 0.6 without glasses) are strictly checked.
